Working With the Telephones

In YDC rehearsals we’ve started to work with a few rotary dial phones for our evening long work about communication we’ve been calling “Telephone” and Kim put together a phrase for Isa using the phone. Take a look at the video for a hint of what’s to come in October.

Hannah and I are going to be performing a duet from the upcoming YDC show “Telephone” on Sunday April, 18th at 3pm. We’re showing this excerpt along side the works from artists like the Sean Curran Company, Dancewave Company, and the Limon Professional Studies Program in the PeriChild Ensemble Fundraiser. Come check out the show at The Peridance Capezio Center (126 E 13th Street). Tickets are $20 for Adults and $12 for High School Students.

Back in the Studio

So now half way into March, the YDC is back in the studio and working on a piece that should be debuting in October. We’ve been creating a new evening work for the Alvin Ailey Theater for four months now, and finally the strings of material are starting to come together.

A True Work of Art

Sitting at home today, I thought I should probably work on some stuff I had to do for YDC, since the upcoming show is so incredibly soon (Oct. 2nd and 3rd. hint hint). So I looked at our video on the website to take some notes and ended up sitting there, watching piece after piece forgetting to take notes because I forgot how good it actually is. So I am posting now to tell everyone, you better come see our show because it is damn good (if I do say so myself).

Pre-Show Madness

2009’s Right Here. Right Now. is approaching faster than we were expecting. Thankfully in the two weeks before show time everyone is starting to pull together their pieces of the show. Costumes are being assembled, set and lighting designers are sitting in on rehearsals, and each piece is getting checked over to make sure the dance is at its best. The company couldn’t be more excited to revive Right Here. Right Now. for a new audience and a new space. In this revival, some revision of the old and addition of some new has made the show the most cohesive and powerful work YDC has created. Remember October 2^nd and 3^rd are closer than you think, and seats have already begun to sell so its important that everyone interested in seeing this revolutionary and riveting show reserves their tickets as soon as possible by clicking on the convenient Box Office link at the top of the page.
