Hannah Cullen

Hannah Cullen is seventeen and dance is her passion. Hannah studies at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in the Pre-Professional Program and is currently applying for college.  She is interested in pursuing dance at a conservatory level while studying ways in which dance can be adapted to fit the cultural climate of today’s society.  Hannah premiered the role of the Firebird in Pascal Rioult’s modern adaptation of Firebird at the American Dance Festival and at Zellerbach Auditorium and went on to perform the role for two seasons The Joyce Theater.  She has also performed with Young Dance Collective (YDC) in works by Larry Keigwin, and Noemie LaFrance and with fellow YDC member Cosmo Scharf in Filtrate by Johannes Weiland.

As member of Young Dance Collective since 2003, Hannah has been able to pursue choreography and deepen her understanding of collaboration. The experience she has had with YDC is unique and has helped shape her as a person and an artist.  She loves choreographing her own work and working collectively with the other members of YDC.

Hannah is a founding member of the Young Dance Collective.
