Come experience a dance-exploration into the art of becoming one’s self, as interpreted by seven inspired and inspiring teen artists. On October 2nd and 3rd, 2009!
Young Dance Collective will be performing Right Here, Right Now, a program that hurtles against and through expectations of where they are in the scheme of life. Alert, ardent, open and decisive, this sophisticated company offers a formative investigation that reveals the intelligence and intensity of our youth.
If you have kids, bring them. If you were once a kid yourself, you don’t want to miss this show!

These kids are so amazingly creative–and sophisticated. Their director, Kim Cullen, really gets them to express themselves in a way that’s true to them, not to their parents or to an outsider. No one is putting a dance on them. It comes from within themselves. It’s not a kiddie show, that’s for sure. I can’t wait to see it again and hope a lot of people come out to the Ailey Center to support their work.

Spectacular and moving! This performance succeeded in inviting the audience into the head of a teenager. It expressed the stresses, pressures, anxieties and triumphs of growing up urban in a unique format that I found inspiring. I think this show should be seen by teenagers everywhere as it illustrates so many ways kids can be heard.
It’s better than dance, more than a performance. It’s a true expression of the soul, and the joy and angst and humanity that is being a teenager. This kids are amazing.
